Mansoor cites several musicians as influences from a wide range of genres. Notably, he cites John Petrucci, Allan Holdsworth, Ron Jarzombek and Fredrik Thordendal as being important to his development as a guitar player. Other notable artists and bands include Devin Townsend, Nevermore, Guthrie Govan, Opeth, Gojira, Porcupine Tree and Textures.

As for gear, Mansoor is absolutely obsessed with finding that perfect rig which blends playability and tone, so while he doesn’t have any official endorsements, he does have guitars made by Blackmachine, Mayones, Strandberg, Music Man, Jackson, Bernie Rico Jr. and many more.

When it comes to a style, Mansoor creates technically demanding riffs combining power chords, tapping, open strings, wide stretches and complicated polyrhythms that seem to have their roots in sheer creativity more than any particular influence.

The triple-guitar attack and rhythmic dexterity of Periphery has won them devoted adherents across underground subcultures, regardless of whether those fans were weaned on the passion-fueled sounds of the Vans Warped Tour or the progressive rock of Rush.
